| When The Rutgers University Board of Governors met to consider the recommendations presented by President McCormick on the restructuring of Undergraduate Education at Rutgers University, the vote was 10-1 in favor of adopting these recommendations that include designating Douglass College as Douglass Residential College. (Mabel Smith Douglass Residential College was in President McCormick's original recommendation).
Here's what we achieved:
- There will no longer be a Livingston College, Cook College or Rutgers College - they will all be designated "campuses." Douglass -- because of its strong mission and your activism, will be designated Douglass Residential College.
- Douglass College will continue to have academic requirements, special programs, co-curricular programs (a combination of academic experiences and extracurricular experiences), honors communities, and student life activities along with our traditions.
- Douglass will continue to have a Dean and staff dedicated to women's education and women's leadership.
- Like in the past, students will have to choose this experience. Thus we will have a definable Douglass residential student body.
